The cable that feeds a home charger runs from your consumer unit to the charger, and the longer and harder that route, the more it costs. It's one of the biggest reasons two installations of the same charger are priced differently.
A short route on a single wall is quick. A long one may need to go through several rooms, along a garage, across a driveway or to a detached outbuilding, and each of those brings extra cable, protection, fixings and labour. If the cable has to be buried, groundworks and ducting add time and cost, and the cable itself may need to be a heavier gauge over longer distances to avoid voltage drop.
Sometimes there are cheaper options: mounting the charger in a different position, or, for a detached garage, running a dedicated supply to it rather than trailing a cable from the house. An installer will look at what's practical at the survey.
