A little preparation makes the survey and the quote more accurate. Know where you park, where you'd like the charger, and roughly where your consumer unit and electricity meter are. Photos of the consumer unit, the meter and the parking spot are surprisingly useful to an installer.
Know your car and how you'll charge. Which car do you have (or plan to buy), does it need a Type 2 cable, and do you want a tethered or untethered unit? If you're on an EV tariff, or plan to be, mention it so the installer can suggest a suitable smart charger.
Check the permissions. If you rent, you'll need your landlord's consent; in a flat, the freeholder's; and if a cable has to cross a public footpath, your council's. It's easier to sort these out before the installation date.
Finally, think about the future: a second EV, solar panels or a battery may change which charger and supply arrangement makes sense. Mention them in the quote form and we'll help point you to a suitable installer.
