The best EV tariff is the one that gives the lowest total bill for how you actually use electricity, not simply the cheapest overnight rate. An EV tariff usually trades a lower rate for a set window against a higher rate the rest of the day, so if you use a lot of electricity in the evening, the higher daytime price can offset the saving.
Compare four things: the off-peak rate and the hours it applies, the standard rate outside that window, the daily standing charge, and any requirements such as a smart meter, a compatible car or charger, or a fixed term and exit fees. It's the combination that matters.
Match the tariff to your charger. A smart charger can be scheduled to charge inside your cheap window automatically, so you don't have to remember. If you have solar panels, a solar-matching charger may reduce how much you need from the grid at all.
Tariffs change often, so treat any numbers you see as a snapshot and check the supplier's current terms. Once your tariff is sorted, tell us about your home in the quote form and we'll help match you with an installer.
