Wallbox Pulsar Plus: is it the right home charger?

The Wallbox Pulsar Plus is one of the most commonly fitted compact home chargers in the UK. It's a small, square unit that comes in a 7kW single-phase version for typical homes, and a higher-powered three-phase version for the minority of properties that have a three-phase supply. It's available tethered (with a fixed cable attached) or with a socket, so you can use your own cable.

Its main selling points are its size, its app and its charging controls. The myWallbox app lets you schedule charging, monitor usage and, on supported models, adjust the charge current. It also supports features such as power management with other Wallbox products and, with the right accessories, solar-aware charging — worth asking about if you have solar panels, though a dedicated solar charger like the MyEnergi Zappi is built around that use.

For most homes the practical question isn't the Pulsar Plus itself, it's whether your electrics are ready for it. A 7kW charger draws a sustained, high load for hours, so it needs its own circuit and appropriate protection, and your installer will check that your incoming supply can cope alongside everything else in the house. If you have an older consumer unit, that may need upgrading first.
