Wallbox is a Spanish charger manufacturer whose home units, such as the Pulsar Plus, are widely fitted across the UK. Installing one follows the same basic pattern as any other home chargepoint: a survey of your property, a dedicated circuit run from your consumer unit to the charger, the unit fixed to a wall or pillar, then testing and certification before you plug in. Most straightforward domestic jobs are completed in a day.
What actually moves the price is rarely the charger itself. It's the length of cable run between your consumer unit and the parking spot, whether the cable has to go through brick, along a garage wall or under a driveway, whether your consumer unit has a spare way and the right protection, and how your home is earthed. Two Wallbox installs on the same street can be quoted quite differently for those reasons alone — see our installation cost guide for a fuller breakdown.
Wallbox chargers are smart chargers, which means they connect to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and are controlled through the myWallbox app, where you can schedule charging to run in your cheapest overnight tariff window. Since 2022, new UK home chargers have been required to have smart functionality by law, so this applies to every charger you'll be quoted for, not just Wallbox.
Your installer should be a qualified electrician who can self-certify the work, and should notify your local network operator (in the North East, that's Northern Powergrid) about the new chargepoint. Tell us about your car, home and parking in the quote form and we'll help connect you with a suitable local installer who can price a Wallbox — or a different brand — properly for your property.
