Semi-detached houses often have a driveway or off-street parking to one side, which generally makes installation more straightforward than on a street-parking-only terrace. Even so, price can vary quite a bit from house to house on the same street, mostly down to where your consumer unit sits relative to where you park.
If your consumer unit is in a hallway or garage close to your parking space, the cable run is usually short and simple. If it's on the opposite side of the house, or your parking is round the side or back, the installer will need a longer run — sometimes involving external cable management or, occasionally, minor groundworks, both of which add to the job.
Semi-detached homes with an integral or attached garage sometimes have the easiest installations of all, since the garage can double as a natural mounting point close to the existing supply. Our installation requirements guide explains what an installer typically checks before quoting.
As with any property type, the only reliable way to get an accurate figure is a quote based on your actual home. Tell us about your semi-detached property, your parking and your consumer unit location, and we'll help connect you with a suitable local installer.
