EV charger installation cost in Durham

Durham's cost picture is shaped by its heritage. The historic core, with its cathedral and castle World Heritage Site, and the older terraced streets around it sit in and near conservation areas, where and how you mount a charger can be restricted, particularly on the side facing the road. That can mean a less convenient position, and a longer cable run, than the same job in a modern estate.

Further out, in areas such as Newton Hall, Belmont and Framwellgate Moor, driveways and allocated parking are far more common, and installations tend to be simpler: a short cable run from the consumer unit to a wall beside the parking space. Those jobs sit at the more straightforward end of the range, though the age of your consumer unit and how your home is earthed still matter.

Durham is also a university city with a lot of rented housing. If you're a tenant, you'll need your landlord's agreement before anything is fitted, and if you're a landlord considering a charger, our landlord installation page explains how that fits with the renters' grant. Across County Durham, Durham County Council is the authority for any cable that needs to cross a public footpath.

Because cost depends so heavily on which part of Durham you live in, the sensible next step is a survey. Tell us about your property in the quote form and we'll help connect you with a suitable local installer.
