EV charger installation cost for a terraced house

Terraced houses are some of the most common properties we hear from homeowners about, and the cost picture is usually shaped by two things: where you park, and how far that parking is from your consumer unit. If you have a driveway or off-street parking directly in front of the house, cable runs are often short and installation can sit towards the more straightforward end of the scale.

Where things get more variable is street parking, which is common on terraced rows without a driveway. In that situation, a cable channel across a pavement may need council permission, and not every terraced street will be suitable — our guide on installing an EV charger without a driveway covers the realistic options in more detail.

Consumer units in older terraced housing stock can also need an upgrade before a charger can be safely fitted, which adds to the job. It's one of the things an installer will check as part of assessing your property, alongside earthing arrangements and the condition of your existing wiring.

Because every terraced street is laid out differently, we don't publish a single 'from' price for terraced houses specifically. Tell us about your property in the quote form and we'll help match you with an installer who can price it properly, based on your actual home rather than a generic estimate.
